This recipe was passed down to me from my sweet grandma and it’s one of my favorite things about Thanksgiving! It’s just one of those comfort food that carries all kinds of wonderful memories of Thanksgiving past. Recipe below. (And maybe a sneak peek at our Black Friday Sale!)
1 cup butter
1 finely chopped onion
1 cup finely chopped celery
20 slices day old white bread dried and cubed (can “dry bread” by putting slices on cookie sheet on low heat oven – flip when sides start to dry out)
1 tsp. poultry seasoning
1 tsp sage
1 1/2 tsp. salt
10 oz. chicken broth
Handful of “craisens”
saute: butter, onions and celery till clear
– pour over bread crumbs
– add seasonings – toss
– gradually pour broth over and stir consistently
– add beaten eggs and mix together
– pack into turkey lightly – – cook rest in crockpot.
I usually double this recipe because people love it so much!
